Having an old friend in town is truly good for the soul, so when my friend Melissa said she needed to get away I immediately said YES! As soon as I picked her up we headed to the mountains! And lucky us we got to spend a day in Vail, seeing the sights and eating our way through! And ya, petting as many dogs as I could!
On our way back to Georgetown from Vail I finally got to stop in Silverplum at a place I have been DYING to see… Bread Bar! Yup, in this old almost a ghost town nestled in the side of the mountain is an old bakery that is now the hippest mountain bar. When you walk in you are treated like family (BONUS there are always dogs) the drink menu is small and delicious plus the view?>!? Incredible! We sat on the patio while we watched the sun set over the mountains, a drink in our hand in our cozy sweaters and it is literally perfection. If I could recreate this day or even bottle it… I would!
Before we headed back to the city we spent Saturday morning taking in all the Fall Foliage on Guenella Pass! It was so nice to breathe in the fresh cool mountain air, see the Aspens turn such a brilliant yellow and also show Melissa a place I love and call a second home… Georgetown
Saturday evening all three of us went to see Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bad Company on a cool windy evening and it was the BEST! I love concerts and I also love seeing the fun Melissa brings out in Matt. You see Melissa has known Matt about 15 years longer than she has known me and in fact she introduced us. Sunday we took Melissa golfing and stepped into Matt’s favorite place and it was great! I even golfed really well, I was so proud!
The whole time she was here was full of laughter, long talks, maybe tears, drinks and all that Colorado has to offer! Cheers to a beautiful Fall weekend!
