So many people right now are trying out new diets, loosing weight, getting healthy and something Matt said stuck with me. Matt is trying the Keto diet which by the way is SOO HARD for me cook for since I do not eat meat and dairy. But anyways when Matt was explaining to me why he wanted to do this he was saying how “so and so’s wife lost 30 pounds” and “he lost 40 pounds last year” and how the results from them are proof. And I brought up to him that HIS OWN WIFE lost 57 pounds 6 years ago and has never once gained any back. I mean I forget that time of my life sometimes. I gained weight because I wasn’t happy, I was cooking so much rich food and I woke up one day and was like I need to change and I did. Now unlike fad diets this took me a full year. Everyone seems to want quick results, like “before summer” or in a few months but slow and steady win the race and I am proof of that. Lucky you I have dug up 2 “Before” pictures for you…..
My before had me weighing in at 177 and wearing a 12-14 pant and XL top. And let me preface there is nothing wrong with those sizes at all but for someone who dance professionally and was always in shape this was not me.
This is me now 57 pounds lighter, I wear a 2 and XS. I have been around this size now for 5 years, steady and that is something to be proud of. And I need to remind myself of this from time to time. If you would of told me 6 years ago that I would walk down a runway in a swimsuit with no tights on my legs I would have laughed you under the table.
Don’t worry I am going to tell you all about how I did it and give you plenty of resources. I did an oldy but a goody…. Weight Watchers! And I realize that the point system is different now 6 years later but the basis of this plan is the same. Here is why this works:
- This is NOT a diet this is an overall lifestyle change
- You never deprive yourself of any certain foods or food groups
- You track your daily points and learn what works and what doesn’t
- Even after you stop counting points the things I learned are still with me
It is different than how I eat now, I am vegan with eating the occasional egg and fish. So a lot of the recipes do not ring true to me now but looking back I am reminded of how much I loved these recipes. I love the WW cookbooks, I love Skinny Taste blog and I still cook from both to this day.
TIP!!! Do NOT expect huge loss each week. I averaged a few pounds one week then the following week no loss just a maintain. And it was like that for the entirety of this plan. Loose one week, maintain the next and that works I swear.
