Red Rising…

“Ender, Katniss, and now Darrow.”—Scott Sigler

Pierce Brown’s relentlessly entertaining debut channels the excitement of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card.

Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children.

But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet. Darrow—and Reds like him—are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.

Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity’s overlords struggle for power. He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society’s ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies . . . even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.

W-O-W!
I got this book after reading incredible reviews in Entertainment Weekly and People magazine. When I read the “over-view” it did sound weird to me, it didn’t jump out at me. But goodness am I glad I gave this book a chance! This book is……..
Game of Thrones + Hunger Games + The Giver + Divergent + Enders Game + Lord of the Flies = Red Rising!!!!!

This book is different, intriguing, brutal and it immersed me into this “far off” dystopian society and I was so sad when I finished the last page! And yes, I hugged the book! ha! I HATE that I will have to wait for book 2 to come out, yup…..meet your next trilogy series that WILL be turned into a movie! This book has no sappy love triangle and you won’t miss that at all, this book is so vivid it played out like a movie in my mind as I read it. This book would also be a great read for guys or teen boys with all the battles in it as well as the book being told thru the male characters eyes.
I just can’t say it enough, I just loved this book!!!! Book Club gals…..this is a must read!
