Tully Hart has always been larger than life, a woman fueled by big dreams and driven by memories of a painful past. She thinks she can overcome anything until her best friend, Kate Ryan, dies. Tully tries to fulfill her deathbed promise to Kate—to be there for Kate’s children—but Tully knows nothing about family or motherhood or taking care of people……
Fly Away is the long awaited sequel to a book that I loved…And a book my Book Club loved. You can catch up on Firefly Lane HERE!
I love Kristin Hannah, she is an author that if you are in a rut you can pick up anything she has written and feel the comfort of a good book. How did the sequel stack up? Hmm….overall I am left with a good feeling for the book and the characters but it wasn’t always easy to read. This book switches back and forth between 3 different “times”….like 10 years ago, 2 years ago and present. It is also told thru all the characters eyes………. and those “dot dot dots” are the only warning you get that the narrator is changing. So I felt like I had to spend several pages each time just trying to figure out what was happening and where this persons story last left off. The switching back and forth in the middle of chapters and spanning so much time….was just harder for me to find a connection.
Now if you have read Firefly Lane then yes, read this….it is a great story but it is just told in a more confusing way than I would of liked!
