It’s about time…..

Do you know how long it has been since I have reviewed a book on here? About as long as it has been since I finished one. This past year is like my mind has too much going on and I just can’t connect to books like I use to. Yes, that is beyond sad and depressing…..I want to read 1 book a week like I use to but I just can’t. I will start one, put it down, buy one, put it away, read a self-help book and then move on. But friends, finally…..I finished a book and I hope more than ANYTHING this will re-ignite my passion for books.
The Fault in our Stars by John Green….
Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 13, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs… for now.

Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.

Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind

This book took me a long time to read and I think if I was reading at my old pace I would of loved it even more…..with that being said…….this book is great. This is a YA but it is different, this book has heart, it is funny and it will tug at your heart. I loved this book and I think all my book club gals would love it too!!!! Let me know if you have or will read it and what you think?!!

Since I have been alone a lot lately I have watched a ton of movies, so much so I can’t even remember them all but I thought I would share a few of them with you……………..
Hope Springs……..was ok. And I don’t think I didn’t love it because I am not the target audience but it was too slow. This movie for some reason didn’t get me invested into the characters and in result I didn’t care what they did, only that they did it quick!

End of Watch…….Loved this movie! I was shocked because I don’t remember wanting to see this but I loved it! Warning…..the F-word is probably used 150+ times but it fits, we are talking about the Mexican drug cartel here. This movie was real, intense and I did get invested in these characters! Loved it…….the point is….don’t mess with the Mexican Drug cartel or you could wind up dismembered! ha!

Dredd, yes yes friends I watched this. I was reaching to find anything I haven’t seen before and this won. If you are looking for a violent, crazy, futuristic movie with a crazy plot then this is for you. I didn’t hate it, it was entertaining. That isn’t a sound endorsement but I liked it better than Hope Springs!

Silver Linings Playbook……last week I saw this because I wanted to see what the hype was all about. I was left conflicted after the movie……I wasn’t sure how I felt about this movie it was just so different. But now looking back, I loved it. There isn’t another movie like this out there and this one will really make you think and open you up to something you may not know….mental illness. The acting is amazing and I am pulling for both of them for the Oscar!

You seen anything lately I need to watch?????
Ps….Is anyone watching The Following on Fox???? I LOVE it!

  2. Crystal Clear As Mud

I'll add this book to my monstrous to-read list, haha! I haven't seen any of those movies, but I'm intrigued about Silver Linings!

  3. Girl On a Journey

I hope Bradley Cooper wins a Oscar for sure. He played the part perfect. Sometimes movies with a mentally ill character are way off but, he was great. Hope Springs was pretty slow, I agree. Tomorrow night we are going to see "Identify Thief" with Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman. Looks hysterical. I love her!
