Hi friends….I hope you aren’t getting too tired of me doing “show and tell” as I decorate each room in the house but honestly I don’t have friends or family here so this is the next best thing. I have been working on the formal dining room all week….I will do a post about it soon! Since my new PB hutch is finally in the room, it was time to fill it up!
I don’t have things that were passed down……….so when I got my Nana’s China after she passed last year I was so honored. All the china has been stored at my Dad’s office, then my garage, moved and then stored in my new garage! So opening it all up yesterday was like opening boxes of JOY! This China is decades old and the pattern is Desert Rose by Franciscan, I love it. Now, would I go out and buy China with Pink Roses…..no, but knowing the love, care and history behind it…..I couldn’t love anything more. Some pieces broke in the move (only 3) but luckily I will be able to buy replacement pieces online. Here is the craziness yesterday…..
Not only did I take all these stunning dishes out of the boxes….but I found Nana’s handmade lace and crocheted linens for the table. I will have to get them professionally cleaned but I am so excited and I am also excited that all of this fit in my hutch. This china was another reason for painting the dining room green………….
Moving on…..you remember my powder room?? This ugly mix of green and purple????? I mean why someone would voluntarily do this is beyond me……
Well………..WHAM!!! We switched out the light fixture and painted the whole room Slate Grey! Man, what a difference paint can make! Thanks Matt…….knocking another thing off the to-do list!
I like to decorate with personal touches and long before we moved I had this idea, so it was exciting for it to actually happen. This stunning vase (vase, container?) is from Pottery Barn but once again it has a chip in the glass so we bought it 1/2 off “As Is”!! Then…..I filled it with Matt’s dirty baseballs. Matt played baseball in High School and College so it is really nice being able to take something dear to his heart and decorate with it.
Here is the finished product…………..
This was the table I was waiting on all day yesterday……Pottery Barn, but there isn’t a chance I would pay full price at that store. This table was on clearance and I love it, the lamps I got at Marshall’s for only $30…I think they look expensive! The baskets and knick knacks all came from Hobby Lobby clearance! You know having real Mahogany tables from Pottery Barn makes me feel so grown up, we have always had our “single” furniture so finally getting some real pieces in the house is so very fun.
Thank you guys for letting me share with you, I was telling Matt I was so excited about everything but kinda sad I have no one to show it too…so it is nice posting it on here for family and friends to see!
