Lets start by me saying you can’t win them all…..I worked on moms birthday cake for around 3 hours…..homemade Dulce de leche cream filling, almond meringue icing and from scratch almond cake and when I went to pop out the cakes from my 9inch rounds they crumbled and went everywhere! I could of cried! Below is the disaster! Looking back I could of made a yummy trifle but when you are in the throws of a mini-meltdown you are not always thinking clearly!
So with 1 hour until guests arrive a box of yellow cake and chocolate frosting saved my life! But I can only dream of how good the cake would of been!! To see the original recipe click HERE!
Next up you will NOT BELIEVE what I made! Homemade from scratch dinner rolls…..it took alot of prayers and good vibes but I was shocked when they rised on schedule and turned out great! The last time I tried making something with yeast and the whole 9 yards it wasn’t pretty!!! Here are the rolls pre-oven…..
I made the Pioneer Woman’s 9 HOUR Burgundy mushrooms…….and no that is not a typo!!! Here is the recipe……….
■4 pounds White Button Mushrooms
■2 sticks Butter
■1-½ teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
■1 liter Burgundy Wine (other Reds Will Work)
■1 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
■2 cups Boiling Water
■4 whole Chicken Bouillon Cubes
■4 whole Beef Bouillon Cubes
■1 teaspoon Dill Seed
■5 cloves Garlic, Peeled
■2 teaspoons Salt
Thoroughly wash the mushrooms and throw them into a large stockpot. Add all the remaining ingredients except the salt. Stir to combine.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for six hours.
Remove the lid, then continue cooking, uncovered, for three hours.
Add salt to taste at the end if desired. The mushrooms will be very dark in color. Simmer until needed. Server straight from the pot or in a serving bowl. Dip crusty bread in the juice—yum!
They were soo yummy and worth the wait……….
Look at these babies……..my sister only had rolls for dinner I think!! If you want the recipe for these leave me a comment with your email address!!! I have been asked by my mom to bring these to Christmas dinner….so I would say they were a hit
The main dish I made was Rachael Ray’s ricotta stuffed chicken wrapped in prosciutto! They were so good! Do you ever make a meal and spend ALL DAY in the kitchen and although everyone loved your meal you just can’t eat it. I was completely out of the mood!
