I have had Mussels at restaurants before and after watching TV Chefs make them and realizing how easy they are I gave it a whirl last night!!! This was a delish meal and it really was super easy!!!!
I got my Mussels at Homeland and they were already scrubbed and clean, but if your are not make sure they are clean. ( you should use a scrub brush) ALSO….make sure none of the shells are open, if so they are already dead and you need to throw them out.
I served mine with sauteed shrooms and crusty french bread. Mushrooms……
1. Rough chop your mushroom of choice ( I used button) and put into pan with 2 tablespoons unsalted butter and saute until tender.
Finely dice 1 yellow onion and 3 cloves of garlic, saute in 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of EVOO until onions start to look translucent.
Next up….pour in 1 cup of dry White wine followed by the mussels. Put a lid on them and cook on Med for 8-10 minutes. You are wanting all the shells to open.
When your mushrooms are tender add salt and pepper then you will add my moms secret ingredient…a couple of dashes of Worshester Sauce! DONE! You don’t have to tell anyone how easy that was.
While everything is cooking away………….put your bread in the oven to warm!
Here is my crusty bread ready to be dunked into the mussel sauce and my mushrooms that are to die for! YUMM you will love this.
Salt and pepper your mussels then dump them along with the juice into a large bowl to enjoy!!!!
If you have never eaten mussels before it is easy I just use a fork to get the meat out and dump my bread into the garlic butter goodness! This was easy and yummy! let me know if you try it!
