I feel a little weepy…

So you will not believe this, especially if you know Marissa……..my little baby sister is moving to college tomorrow! OU to be exact, Boomer Sooner! She is moving in early because Rush week starts on Friday! My sister is a Tri Delt legacy, with 5 reference letters and a resume that any house would fight over so I have a sneaky feeling she is a shoe in. Here Marissa just for you………..

MMM MMM MY SISTERS (Delta Delta Delta Song)
Mmm mmm my sisters,
Mmm mmm my sisters
Couldn’t get along without you now.
Got along without you before I met you.
Couldn’t get along without you now.
We gave our hearts, and so can you;
Now you can be a Delta Sister too.
Mmm mmm my sisters,
Mmm mmm my sisters
Couldn’t get along without you now.
Got along without you before I met you,
Couldn’t get along without you now.

Ok ok, don’t throw up or anything now…..stay with me……..
I got to see her today over lunch as she raided my closet for last minute rush ideas and back up outfits. Then next Tuesday in 101 degree heat my mom and me will be baking in the sun at 2pm to watch her run down the street to the Sorority that she bid. I fondly remember this, you wait in your dorm room and family is not allowed to see you until your invitation is slid under your dorm door then…..WHAM, all hell breaks loose as 1200 screaming girls race to their house with friends and family. Should I wear my bid day shirt? It is only 10 years old??

I think I am extra weepy with for many reasons……First of all we are 11 years apart and I feel more like some hybrid Momster (mom+sister= get it?) so the thought of her growing up and going to college is enough to make me cry. And second I am so proud, Marissa is “walking in my shoes” going to OU and going thru rush BUT there is one BIG difference…..Marissa is a better version of myself. She is everything I wish I was……………

Now, I realize that Marissa will ONLY be living 20 miles from my house and I will see her alot especially if she bids Tri Delt as I will try to be a more active Alumn. BUT it is more of the fact that she is going to have her own life….she is flying the coop and leaving me behind. In case you were wondering Marissa is majoring in Interior Design and her roommate is her best friend Courtney and they will live in Couch. (For all your OU grads).

Now don’t get me wrong I love my brother and I am proud of him too but there is something different with sisters and since I was 11 when she was born I truly have seen her grow up. And don’t even get me started on my mom and dad….this weekend for the FIRST time in 29 YEARS they will have a empty nest and with Rusty passing last week I pray my mom will survive this life change.
Oh Marissa, how I love you so…………….. don’t forget about me…your boring, old, married sister Nicole.
