Challenge Day 12

30 Day Challenge- Day 12- Whatever Tickles my Fancy….
So I thought I would turn this day into a Book review/Thankful Thursday!
First off “Thankful Thursday” I am thankful that I finally finished this book! It was a long road!!!!!!!!!!!
Second, Let’s talk about it………

Here is the “jest” on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue.
It is about the disappearance forty years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden . . . and about her octogenarian uncle, determined to know the truth about what he believes was her murder.

It s about Mikael Blomkvist, a crusading journalist recently at the wrong end of a libel case, hired to get to the bottom of Harriet s disappearance . . . and about Lisbeth Salander, a twenty-four-year-old pierced and tattooed genius hacker possessed of the hard-earned wisdom of someone twice her age who assists Blomkvist with the investigation. This unlikely team discovers a vein of nearly unfathomable iniquity running through the Vanger family, astonishing corruption in the highest echelons of Swedish industrialism, and an unexpected connection between themselves.

So I picked up this book the first time around Christmas and could not get into it at all, so I shelved it. Well now it seems to be some world wide “thing” after watching Brian Williams on the NBC Nightly news run a story on this “Millennium Series” I had to try again and see what the fuss was all about. I am not going to lie it was a rough road, I was 100 pages in and not yet hooked but I forged thru…….the beginning half of this book is very politically and financially based but as the book evolves and turns into more of a mystery I found myself liking it more and more. The twist at the end I did not see coming it was the highlight of the book and I can see how this will make a great movie. I will say there were a couple of graphic scenes but what book doesn’t have that anymore? Do I recommend this? Yes, because I would like to hear your thoughts on everything. Am I going to read the next 2 in the series? Maybe so but I have not decided yet.

I think I may have to pass on reading this one and just watch the movies.

I've heard a few people say it was slow to get into. I too have a hard time committing to a book that doesn't start off with a good record, so I don't plan on reading this one. My boyfriend watched the movie a few weeks ago while I was doing homework and within 30 min I was on the couch as interested as he was. I usually watch pretty graphic shows/movies… but there is one scene that I found particularly tough to watch. I'll be interested to see if you pick up the next book!

I've been so intrigued by this one because of all the hype. I'll have to give it some more thought after your review, it might just be pushed back on my list.
