Making the rounds…

I just finished this amazing book Making the Rounds with Oscar by Dr. Dosa and in this book I learned alot, it warmed by heart and it also made me think. I want you to watch this video below about Oscar and why he is so special. Oscar lives on the dementia floor of a nursing home and he “knows” when a patient is going to die and during the last few hours of every single person he has laid by their side giving them and their family some sense of peace during this hard time……………..

I already know that all animals are special so this “concept” is nothing new to me but in this book the doctor interviewed all the family of the patients Oscar sat with and every single one of them was so grateful for Oscar they also all speak about a bond that you can not see but feel between Oscar and the patients right before they pass. This book also talks alot about dementia and how that affects not only the patient but the families in ways you can not imagine until it is you. I had a hard time sleeping last night because I thought about my own very special grandparents and how lucky I am to have my Oma & Granddad still in my life. It also made me think about when the time will come for them to leave me and no I am not being morbid at all but after reading a book about the elderly it is only natural to think of your own family. I love my grandparents more than you can imagine and I have been so blessed to be 28 and not have dealt with death yet but at the same time this scares me so much because I do not know what I will do when this ever happens.
This is a short read and once again this shows how amazing animals are, Oscar fills my heart with warmth and love.

You always seem to find good reads about animals, I'll have to add this to my 'to-read' list.
