Are you wondering why in the world is there is shirt with sunflowers on them and a broom skirt on my blog? Well before I start let me say this is not my mom fault (well her intention was pure)she did not know any better (I would like to think) she was rather crafty and I paid the price… so forgive me for this story mom! ha! I am telling this for pure giggles and after reading this I encourage you to either leave a comment with a mortifying moment from your school days or tell one on your blog!! Now let’s get started…….
So I am the oldest of 3 and therefor left with no style icon to look to for guidance combine that with frizzy hair, thick glasses and the worst clothes you could imagine and what you get is my Junior High days. Going to Junior High is a big deal for most kids, I was so so naive and at this point in my life my mom still picked out my clothes……. yes yes you heard me right I was almost 13 and I didn’t ask her to do this she just made me! SO Junior High orientation was coming up where everyone checks everyone else out and you set the bar for your Junior High experience and my mom picked out “our” outfits. Yes, I said OUR…….. my mom dressed me and her ALIKE!!!!!! I actually showed up to 7th grade orientation in a matching outfit with my MOTHER and that is not the worst part. We wore matching hand painted shirts with sunflowers on them much like the one pictured above and then we tucked that snazzy shirt into our “broom skirt” that my mom had made for us out of DENIM and topped it off “our look” with matching pony tails!!!!!!! So fast forward thru my 7th grade yearwhich was filled with hand painted holiday shirts and matching socks… I did not have too many friends as it was and then IT HAPPENED………….what you are asking???????? The Yearbook came out and to my surprise on PAGE 2 was the picture of me & my mom at orientation with the captain “TWINKIES” right underneath it! And no you may not see this EVER, and if you went to Jr High with me I am sure you will be racing home to relive this horrifying moment for me!
I am not joking and to this day when I tell this story I can barely make it thru without laughing to death or someone thinking I am lying…….oh no people this is very very true! I am still traumatized!
