The Time Traveler’s Wife

A most untraditional love story, this is the celebrated tale of Henry DeTamble, a dashing, adventuresome librarian who involuntarily travels through time, and Clare Abshire, and artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. Henry and Clare’s passionate affair endures across a sea of time and captures them in an impossibly romantic trap that tests the strength of fate and basks in the bonds of love.
You will have to be patient with me and this “review” because other than the book’s actual description above I do not want to give anything away and this will be hard for me to share my thoughts without much explanation….. To start I read this book in 2 1/2 days and it has been awhile since I read a book THAT quick so that must speak loudly for how this book grabbed a hold of me and would not let go. I bought this book after seeing the movie preview which I posted a while back, the preview makes me swoon not only by the people picked to play the characters but it makes this movie out to be nothing but romance so I bought the book. And let me say the main theme in this book is the love between these two people and it is more than love Clare is dependant on Henry and he makes her life well come to life and Henry needs Clare to keep him stable. But this book is SO MUCH MORE than the romance between these two and I hate even saying this because I had no idea going into this book but it is sad, it is tragic and it deals will some real heavy issues. The writing is confusing at first you have to get use to the dates and the person telling the story to change and jump around on you but once you get the hang of it you will be hooked. Speaking of being hooked the writer literally grabs you in the first 20 pages and that is something I love there is no “oh it will grow on you” but a WHAM and your in love. Now about this movie I think one of two things will happen 1. They will completely change things up take out some story lines to make them easier on the eyes and they will souly focus on the romance, and even now by watching the preview again I see things are slightly different. OR 2. You non readers of the book will go souly looking for a romance movie and be shocked….

I HIGHLY recommend this book and I want to read it again to catch things I did not catch on to the first time. I am wanting to talk about some things that happened with in this book with someone who has read it …so message me if you have and if you are going to read it please let me know when you are done so we can chat! Of course I will be going to see the movie and who knows I may even read the book again before then. This will or should evoke alot of thought from you and I stayed up late thinking about this book last night … thinking about the romance and thinking about other things that happened over the course of the book……..

Sorry that was a poorly written review but it is my thoughts without giving anything away! This book will stay with you long after you are done……..

This is my next book. I don't have it yet, but am borrowing it from Tobi on Sunday. Once I finish we can chat more specifically about the details. It is certainly a need-to-read before we go see the movie.

Nicole, I so loved this book! It's been at least 2 years since I've read it, but it still is probably one of my most favorite stories. I need to read it again before it comes out too! I'm so glad that you enjoyed it!
