How is 2017 the year that I lost 2 children just months apart? Sometimes it does still feel like a nightmare and they will be home any day now. I know they are together in Heaven and that Oscar is with them also. We miss their snuggles, the way they smelled, how talkative both Abner and Bella were and how much their love filled our hearts.
Abner was our snuggle bug, he loved nothing more than a warm lap and kissy lips. This boy lit up our lives for 8 years and we honestly believe that God sent him to us to help complete our family.
Where would I even start with this girl Bella. She was SO much more than my pet... she was my companion, my best friend, my nurse, my confidant and the love of my life. She was so special I will never be able to put it into words, the hole in my heart is gapping. I know Bella is still with me, I feel her sometimes and at times I swear I see her in my bedroom. Plus she was the most stunning kitty around!
These two will ALWAYS hold places in our hearts along with their brother Oscar. Not ONE day goes by that I don't think of them.
I pray for continued good health for Ralph and Elway in 2018.

Mom has had a tradition ever since Matt and I moved out of state to come visit during December for her Birthday trip! So this year was no different but one thing was ..... I only took a few pictures because I wanted to be in the moment and enjoy the time with Mom.
The clubhouse in my neighborhood does fun stuff all the time and I was so excited that they were offering a Christmas craft night when Mom was here!! Here is our finished products, we had fun like always!
Mom is a good sport and when I told her a James Beard Winner/Top Chef alumni was going to be in Denver signing cookbooks and making lunch she was game! It was so cool to meet Hugh Acheson in the culinary world it is like meeting an Oscar winner! He was so kind and his parking lot tacos were too die for.... Mom and I had seconds! LOL
For Moms Birthday we took her to a grand opening of a new restaurant I have been waiting for and then we headed to a Christmas variety show! Who doesn't love a show full of Santa, singing and dancing!
It was great to celebrate with Mom and even better that she is my Christmas present mule... I make her bring a second suitcase to take them home with her! LOL!!
Happy Birthday MOM!

Best of 2017, ME!

This is my last BEST of 2017 post and I wanted to highlight some fun things I got to do this year and things that have made me happy. And NO way is this everything, this is just a few things.

I had such a fun night with my friend Melissa and we got to go see 2 of our favorites!! This was so fun and the perfect way to spend Valentines with a great girlfriend!

This year I was able to spend my Birthday in Oklahoma and to start the day Mom, Marissa and I went to the Pioneer Woman Mercantile and her lodge. I then had dinner with my whole family and finished it on the OKC Ferris wheel which was so fun! I was also able to see friends and spend time with Matt's family on this trip!
I was so luck to be able to go to St Louis and celebrate my brother as he officially graduated Optometry school and in fact he won an award for excellency in Ocular diseases. This week was so wonderful and we goto to spend time with Jordans family also!
A big highlight was going to a Cards game in St Louis with my Dad and brother-in-law Ryan! We saw them BEAT the 2016 World Series champs the Cubs! This was SO fun!
This year I got a GREAT surprise, My Dad flew his plane from Okc to Colorado to spend the weekend with Matt and I!! Dad also helped me work my garage sale, it was so nice to have him here!
3 Generations in 1 trip! For me making this possible will always be a highlight. Mom, Oma, Marissa and I in Vail, priceless.
I got to take my Book Club gals to Georgetown for a day trip at the end of Summer and it was so fun! I loved being able to share a place I love with friends I love.
Yup, feeding giraffes in Colorado Springs with Mom and Dad was a HUGE highlight for me and BONUS>..... we feed elephants too. THIS was a super fun day.
I know I know...... talking about my Cabo trip again but you guys, I loved it. being able to go stay at a resort that I have been lusting after for 10 years was of course a HUGE highlight
Please take me back.......
Being able to watch Elway grow and turn 1 this year was great. He has the biggest personality and he is so full of joy and that fills our life full of joy. This little guy has helped us get thru some hard times.
Lastly this year I was able to spend time with old friends and grow new friendships as well. I am thankful for my friends.

Best of 2017, Matt and I

Each year is always full of hard times and loss and 2017 was no different for us. But I know that for myself especially I NEED to look back and remember the great times of 2017, sometimes the great is easier to forget than the tough. I put together some of my favorite moments in 2017 between Matt and I.........

Of course, CABO for our 10 year Anniversary. This resort was absolute perfection, the company was great, the uninterrupted time was a gift and the FOOD!! Eating a delicious lunch on our patio chairs everyday was a highlight for me. SO simple I know but I can literally close my eyes and transport myself to this moment.
Celebrating something like a 10 year anniversary was a TOP highlight. Enough said.

Our travels, I love seeing new places I have never been to before. Seattle has been on my list for a long time and I was so excited to finally be able to go with Matt. And being treated like royalty from Farmers Insurance was such a great treat!
Also going with Matt back to Charlotte to spend time with his friends and tour his college stomping grounds was great. Then we headed on to Asheville which was a great and relaxing time.
You know we LOVE concerts and 2017 was full of them! YAY! Red Rocks is always a favorite venue and this year we got to go to Steve Miller with Matt's parents and that was so fun! The concert highlight of year for me was QUEEN! It was perfection!
Matt and I are so lucky to be able to take our friends to the Georgetown house. We took this awesome group below at the end of Summer and it was truly a highlight for us both. Great friends, great location, great food and so much fun! Thank you all for spending it with us and CHEERS to many many more days like this to come!
Another highlight was Matt and I being able to volunteer and serve together. Together we each volunteered over 40 hours this year.
Lastly GAMES! Matt and I love going to sporting events, seeing a game in Seattle was awesome. We took in Thunder games, St Louis Cardinal games and all of it is always so special for us to do together.

All I can say now is we are looking forward to what 2018 has in store for us. Hopefully travel, concert and games! (wink wink)

Best of 2017, Part 2

At the beginning of 2017 I set a goal on Goodreads of reading 40 books and I will finish the year with 33. I know it sounds like a lot but there were many weeks this year when I didn't read at all..... my mind was just too full of other things. I did the majority of my reading this year by the pool and reading by the pool especially when I was in Cabo makes me so happy! But don't fret I easily picked my top 5 for you all!
