Super, Surprising and So-So

Hi Guys...... I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Matt and I have started packing for the move so our house looks like a bomb blew up.... I swear I loathe moving! But I was able to finish a great book this weekend and we saw a great movie... 2 things I LOVE! And of course, I have to share it all with you......

The SUPER.....
Madeline King and Grace Pancik are best friends and the envy of Nantucket for their perfect marriages, their beautiful kids, their Sunday night double dates with their devoted husbands. But this summer, something's changed, and if there's anything Nantucket likes better than cocktails on the beach at sunset, it's a good rumor.
And rumor has it..

I am not sure what made me pick up this book I haven't read very many of Elin's books but all that might change after reading this! This book is the PERFECT Summer read and I loved every second of it! This book has it all.... Rumors, Affairs, The Beach, Books, Family and Love! This book was just so enjoyable I highly recommend it!

Matt and I love Ryan Reynolds and I am not sure why this movie didn't play on more screens because we loved it! We didn't have too many expectations we just knew that we didn't want to see Antman so Self/Less it was.... and we were pleasantly surprised! If you don't see this in the theater be sure to put it on your "To-Rent" list!!!

The SO-SO....
Magic, adventure, mystery, and romance combine in this epic debut in which a young princess must reclaim her dead mother’s throne, learn to be a ruler—and defeat the Red Queen, a powerful and malevolent sorceress determined to destroy her.
On her nineteenth birthday, Princess Kelsea Raleigh Glynn, raised in exile, sets out on a perilous journey back to the castle of her birth to ascend her rightful throne. Plain and serious, a girl who loves books and learning, Kelsea bears little resemblance to her mother, the vain and frivolous Queen Elyssa. But though she may be inexperienced and sheltered, Kelsea is not defenseless: Around her neck hangs the Tearling sapphire, a jewel of immense magical power; and accompanying her is the Queen’s Guard, a cadre of brave knights led by the enigmatic and dedicated Lazarus. Kelsea will need them all to survive a cabal of enemies who will use every weapon—from crimson-caped assassins to the darkest blood magic—to prevent her from wearing the crown.
This book is widely popular and in fact the movie is in the works starring Emma Watson so I was sure I would love it..... and it was eh.....
I don't know, I just didn't look forward to reading it every night... I just read it to finish it. I am not sure if I was just in a weird mood or what but this wasn't anything special to me. Of course I will see the movie when it comes out because that is what I do but don't run out to grab this one!

A New Chapter

I have BIG news friends and family!!! And let me say that this isn't something I decided over night or something I decided because of the insane real estate growth here in Denver (that helps) but instead this is something I have been toying with for over 4 years. What you ask is it?
I am officially enrolled in Colorado Real Estate School and I am going to become a Realtor.

In Oklahoma I worked as a Landman, working in Oil and Gas but dealing with land rights and land ownership then I also worked in a Real Estate office for a year as far some background is concerned. And those careers will help my resume when looking for a job and home as a Realtor.
When we left Oklahoma 3 years ago I sold the home myself in less than 4 weeks, executed all the paperwork, negotiations and made a profit on our starter home. Then last Spring I sold our Ohio home FSBO in under 3 weeks once again. And during closing the new owners said that they were blown away and I could have sold them a crap house and they would of bought it from me. They said I must become a Realtor.
Matt and I have discussed this on and off for years but now seemed right. Moving into our new home in a few weeks we need just a little more income coming in.... And I need something flexible due to my migraines and the fact that I will still be helping Matt at his office when I can. So I prayed on it, slept on it for a few weeks and made the LEAP! I picked Online Real Estate school since we have had a busy Summer, this way I have been taking the classes at home when I have time. I am about 1/3 into it and my goal is to finish and take the State test by the end of September.

Let me also say I have realistic goals, I am not committing myself to pounding pavement 10 hours a day, 7 days a week and dreams of making over 100k..... I don't want to set myself up for failure. I want to do this part time, sell maybe 2-3 homes a year and have this to always fall back on. I am also not saying it will be easy, but I really think this will be good for me and for our family! I do have a company in mind that I want to join and to get in I am hoping I can become an assistant for a year and then jump off on my own but we will see how everything works out.

I am excited and scared to start a new career and I absolutely refuse to have a cheesy headshot! lol! SO there it is friends, I said it out's Blog official!!! Wish me luck .........

Cuban Sammies

One of my favorite things to cook is pulled pork because it is SO versatile... you can do BBQ buns, Tacos, loaded potatoes and it gives you leftovers for days! I wanted to create a new way to use my Pulled Pork and man o man did I ever, I swear as I am typing this I am thinking... I must make this again this weekend!
Cuban Sammies

Here are the starring characters for your Pork...........
Lime Juice, Garlic Salt, Paprika spice blend, Cumin, Salt, 2 Jalapeños and 1 onion!
Layer the bottom of a Dutch Oven with the onion and 1 chopped jalapeño then top with a Pork Shoulder. Then it's a lot of meat so use 1 tablespoon of each spice and the remaining jalapeño on top of your Pork! I just dashed a little lime juice on top for some acid!
Now is the magic.... Pour in 1 small bottle or can of Coke!
Close the lid and bake at 300' for 6 hours!
 Let's make SLAW!
- 2 Cups of cabbage (pre-packaged works great)
- 2 Chopped up Jalapeños
- 1/4 cup chopped Cilantro
- Dash of Salt and Pepper
- 2 Tablespoons Lime Juice
- 1 teaspoon EVOO
MIX!!!!!!! Refrigerate until dinner!
To Build your Sammies you will need:
- Torta Buns
- Sliced Ham
- Swiss Cheese Slices
- Yellow Mustard
- Sliced Sweet Pickles

When your Pork is done use a fork to shred the meat and distribute the juices!!! Yumm!!!! Don't worry your pan will come clean after a good soaking!
I like to toast my buns in the oven at 400 for a few minutes before I build my Sammies!
- Mustard the top and bottom buns
- 2 Slices of Ham
- 1 to 2 slices of Pickle depending on your taste!
Then top the pickle with the pork and a slice (or two) of Swiss cheese! Melt the cheese under your broiler until gooey!!!
Then top with your slaw and you have yourself a delish Cuban Sammie your family will love! Matt and I had fries with it and I made homemade Sangria!
These were SOO good and would be perfect for a Party or Game Day eat come Fall!!!

Luckiest Girl Alive

As a teenager at the prestigious Bradley School, Ani FaNelli endured a shocking, public humiliation that left her desperate to reinvent herself. Now, with a glamorous job, expensive wardrobe, and handsome blue blood fiancé, she’s this close to living the perfect life she’s worked so hard to achieve.
But Ani has a secret.
There’s something else buried in her past that still haunts her, something private and painful that threatens to bubble to the surface and destroy everything.
With a singular voice and twists you won’t see coming, Luckiest Girl Alive explores the unbearable pressure that so many women feel to “have it all” and introduces a heroine whose sharp edges and cutthroat ambition have been protecting a scandalous truth, and a heart that's bigger than it first appears.
The question remains: will breaking her silence destroy all that she has worked for—or, will it at long last, set Ani free?
When I picked this book up I had this tag line in my head "The Next Gone Girl"..... and so that one phrase shaped my whole perception of this book. That is what this book is being called and it is NOT that AT ALL. They are not even similar, the whole time I kept waiting for this character to kill her fiancé , set him up, blackmail and this book doesn't have any of that so I am very confused why people are calling this book the next Gone Girl.
Here is the thing.... I LOVED this book, I really did.... but the WHOLE time my mind keep thinking Gone Girl, what is gonna happen.... so it clouded my enjoyment for sure. SO friends this book has NOTHING to do with Gone Girl, nor is it similar in ANY WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that I cleared that craziness up I really recommend this book! To me this book is The Devil Wears Prada meets mystery. What is the secret Ani is hiding, the clues unfold so slow that I devoured the book because I had to know what was going to happen! This book is full of designer duds, mystery, wedding planning, High School flash backs, hot teachers and secrets.... the perfect Summer read!!! I really enjoyed this book and would have loved it even more if I wasn't unintentionally comparing it to another book!

Baby Making Update

How funny is the "meme" above? For everyone who tells you "When you stop trying it will happen" or "Just Relax and your body will respond better" well friends... If I could "Stop trying" and lay in bed relaxed while reading a book and get pregnant I would LOVE that! lol! For reals! It is about Science, Your body, Timing and I could go on and on....

Now, my update? Well tonight I go to my second Acupuncture session with a Chinese herbal medicine specialist and I will start a round of herbs. People really see results using acupuncture for Fertility so I am all for trying. But I am hoping tonight I can try and relax with all the needles in me like the session is intended instead of me freaking out thinking "THERE ARE NEEDLES IN ME"

Second, I went to my gyno 2 weeks ago and after my check up she referred me to a Reproduction and Fertility specialist here in Denver. Her thought is what if I have a blockage, tumor, something that is preventing the egg from doing it's job? We need to find out. SO next month I will have this weird ultrasound procedure called a FemVue. Long story short they use saline and ultrasound to see ALL your reproductive organs to make sure everything is as it should be. And oh ya, Matt didn't escape this either he goes for his "check up" in 2 weeks against his will.

Anyways we shall see where all this takes us but before we go I have 1 thing I want to address and get off my shoulders.........
Yes, this October Matt and I will have been married for 8 years... together for 10. We are both almost 35. SO for those wondering WHY we waited until our 30s aka "So OLD" to try and have a baby when it would have been easier in our 20s here is the answer

1. We don't know that it wold have been easier, there is no way to know that we would have gotten pregnant on the first try because we were "younger"

2. Matt and I are planners and very level headed.... we ALWAYS knew that we would have a Baby when we were in the best place in our marriage. I have seen countless people have a baby to "make things better" and it ends badly. Since we got married we have faced a lot.... Matt working 80+ hours a week the first few years of our marriage, then the sudden move to Ohio and those things do not make a Happy Marriage. I have never been one to say we were perfect. We had some really rocky years and we were not in a place for a Baby. But this move to Denver last year... everything changed. We are in a great place, we just knew it was the time to bring a child into our lives.
So my point is we made the responsible decision to bring a child into our lives when our marriage was ready and yes, it made us older. And yes, maybe that is causing us challenges in getting pregnant but we can't be judged for that.

I will keep you all updated, we are hopeful... I'm not sad or stressed really just ready for this to be DONE already! haha!
Thanks for listening friends!

Last week all the girls in the family decided to take a Girls Day Trip and Vail was only 50 minutes from Georgetown and it was perfect! Vail for me is literally one of my favorite cities, the pictures do not even do it justice.... the beauty of this Resort city! The whole "Swiss/European" style city speaks to my heart and is the closest I have been to Europe! ha!
A while back I found this website for Vail Food Tours and I was so excited when everyone wanted to do it! We took a 3 hour walking History tour of Vail Village and on the way we stopped at 6 stops for food! It was SO much fun! Here is the website

Tessa (on the Right) turns 30 this month so we also used this day to celebrate her and her BIG Birthday that is right around the corner!
This was the first food stop and at the end of the day we couldn't decide what plate was our favorite... each stop was so different and unique... which made it the perfect Food Tour!
Here is one plate we had.... Local Trout with Golden raisins, pine nuts and microgreens. On top of dinosaur kale and a scrumptious reduction! Need I say more?
This the the Famous "Vail Bridge" this was one of the first things built at Vail and is really a representation of the heart of the Village.
I mean really, could this be anymore stunning? Doesn't it just make you want to sit on that patio and enjoy the day?

This was one of my favorite buildings and in fact all the wood is reclaimed Swiss wood and when this was built they brought it Swiss woodsmen to hand carve each piece!

We stopped at a wonderful French Bistro and we were treated to a refreshing cocktail to match our heirloom Beet salad, Burrata cheese, balsamic reduction and toast points!
The Savage Gals! It was so nice to be able to spend the day with my Mother and Sister in law!
We stopped at a German bakery that my Oma would have loved! This was the Chocolate tart with peanut butter ganache and local blackberry!

Yay!! I got to be in one picture!

It was such a wonderful day in a wonderful city that I love!!!
