AMANDA!

So this past weekend we had a great last minute surprise..... AMANDA was in town to see us! If you don't know her we met in College, we are Tri Delt Sisters, Roommates and we were each others Maids-of-honor! This is the definition of a relationship that stays constant even when we rarely get a chance to talk these days! Blessed to have this girl in my life and it makes me even happier that her and Matt also love each other!
Anyhoo.....
Friday was girls day out.... shopping, pedis and then we hit the town! I took her to this amazing new place downtown Milk and Honey and we loved it!
Then Amanda took me to see The Book of Mormon at the Opera House downtown! And I was worried that I have heard so many good things about it that it wouldn't live up to the hype.... and well... IT DID! Holy crap it was so good and literally a laugh out loud musical! But let me preface that with saying it is HIGHLY offensive!
Saturday the three of us took a road trip to Pueblo, Co for the Colorado State Fair! This was the reason Amanda was in town! Amanda is a "BIG shot" at the Tulsa State Fair and she needed to check out some things here.... so we helped her explore!
And by explore I mean.... eat our way thru the fair! haha!
SO I do NOT ride rides but Matt and Amanda got me on one....... I swear it looked slow and easy from where I stood until I was on it! This was not staged Amanda and Matt laughed at me the whole time and documented my torment! LOL!!
Ok, let me get something off my chest about the next 2 pictures..... I am drawn to animals. You know that. Yes, the picture below I literally kissed a baby cow (or 2). I petted every animal I could see, talked to them, hugged them and loved them all over. BUT I was conflicted the whole time. And in fact ask Amanda and Matt... I cried for a good 15 minutes in the middle of the fair.
Why? Because the babies where not with their mother, I worried about their well being. They must have been overwhelmed being manhandled so much and like the goat picture below... I contributed to it. It broke me. Are these animals happy? And here I was using them for hugs and kisses. I know they would have preferred to be on the farm with their family roaming free without thousands of people touching them.
I wasn't going to post these pictures, but my intentions were pure. I really really loved these two babies but it is haunting me.
I don't know... I mean these are show animals who are treated well, I get that but it is so much deeper than that for me. This baby goat was so calm and happy in my arms when I loved on it and told it how much I loved it... but I regret it.
Silly me huh?
I don't mean to be a Debbie-downer but that was my truth.
SWITCHING gears......
We literally had the best time with Amanda here and were so sad to see her go. xoxox

The Meadows

SO many homes in Denver and in our new neighborhood you literally just stare at your next door neighbors anytime you are outside. Your backyard view is literally the 4 foot fence and then your neighbors patio! SO.. let me brag for a minute and say we are SO lucky, yes you can see the neighbors on the sides but we do not back up to any home. We back up to a foothill and on the other side of the hill is a Golf course so no ones will be built there!
So these pictures are literally what we look at when we are outside or look outside our home. It is so neat to see all the deer!
This little lady gets awful close to the road sometimes and she makes me nervous! But really, it is views like this that really make me feel like I am in Colorado! And on clear days from our front yard you can see the Mountains including Pikes Peak!
We have really been enjoying eating on the patio on the evenings that Matt is home and when we have had guests stay!
This night was literally 1 of 2 of the only weekend nights we have had alone since we moved in! HA!
The other night we took a bike ride around the community and saw that the elementary school is literally a few blocks over from our house! It was a beautiful evening!
I promise in the coming days and stuff I will start to show you all a home tour.... but it is still a work in progress!

Dear Concerts,

 Dear Concerts,
Matt and I LOVE going to you, we LOVE seeing our favorites in person, we LOVE singing along to our favorite songs and we love you. I have probably been to over 100 concerts in my life and Matt not as much but still. Now, my question is when did they stop being fun? When did you all decide that $150 is the starting rate for the experience? When did having 3 openers who NO ONE cares about become the normal?
Take our loved Imagine Dragons we went to 3 weeks ago..... the concert starts at 7 pm, so why is it ok that you do NOT take the stage until 10pm?????? Literally, by the time you did we were not "amped" up ... we were pissed and we left 30 minutes later.
Last night we went to Red Rocks and yes, we are SO lucky to be able to see concerts in this famous venue! Matt's cousin Vanessa was even in town to share in it with us...........
A little side note, I can guarantee that we were the only "tailgate" that included chicken sandwiches and arugula plus homemade cookies (NOT laced with pot)! The best people-watching happened while we ate! ha
So we saw Incubus!!! I mean yes.. I want you to be jealous... Incubus AT Red Rocks. Yes, that was epic and once in a lifetime!
Now we knew you were there with The Deftones.... who are apparently are named that because to like them you must be TONE DEAF! So this is me (below), listening to 3 1/2 HOURS of people screaming bloody murder into the mic and calling it music BEFORE Incubus took the stage at 9:30pm! I also wanted to scream into a mic....
And also, unless you are wasted or high you are screwed. For normal people like us we had to spend our night telling the stupid drunk people next to us to please NOT hit us every time they danced like an idiot. So when our beloved Incubus came on the majority of the crowd was so drunk and high we couldn't enjoy the concert because everyone ruined it for us.
And yes, we were prepared for every person to blow weed in our faces... thank God I brought my glasses because my contacts were ruined. And when we got home we had to strip off our outfits and shower at 1am because of how we smelled.
So I guess the question is.... IS all of that worth it?
Incubus was incredible.... we LOVE them, they sound just like their CD's and they played all our favorites. This was my 5th time to see Incubus......But is it worth it? Am I just too old for this? Or am I just "no fun" ?? But really, when did concerts become something they aren't?
You know what I would pay over $150 a ticket for? For me to walk in at 7pm which is concert time and by 7:35 the actual band is playing. For real.
Today I feel like I got run over by a truck.

Summer Fun

My Brother and Sister-in-law finally got to come to Denver and even though it was a few days after our big move it forced me to stop and have some fun! Who doesn't love fun? ha! They got in super early in the morning which was perfect for the first stop.... Snooze at Union Station! Not only is this breakfast place "the" place to take your out-of-towners......but it's awesome!
I took the nice camera with me that morning and played photographer.... I don't know why but I really love this picture!
Next up I took them to Red Rocks which to be honest Jordan wasn't super excited about but I knew she would like it and she DID! They were setting up for Sam Smith while we were there and it is always fun touring the museum and really getting a feel for how EPIC Red Rocks is!
Curtis and Jordan went to see his friend Aaron in Fort Collins a little during the middle of the week and we all met up at one of my favorite places... The Alamo Drafthouse to have dinner and see Mission Impossible..... we all had the best time!
Saturday I call White Water Rafting re-do.... because this Summer Matt didn't get to go so I wanted him to experience how much fun I had and Curtis and Jordan were game too!
It was towards the end of the rafting season so the water was really low but we still had a ball!
After rafting we took our grubby selfs to Cart-Driver.... the hottest place in Denver for Oysters, Pizza and Prosecco on tap and I knew they would love it as much as I did!! Cheers!
Saturday night we all got gussied up and headed to the Cherry Creek Food and Wine Festival, Matt and I went last year and had the best time!
How great is this picture?
Jordan and I didn't plan on matching! ha! You know I love a good front door photo shoot... but guess what?? That door is now YELLOW!!!!!!!
Cheers to great food, great company and drinks!
SO.... I am obsessed with Top Chef, it is my favorite show and the Chefs are Gods to me and look who I met..... Gregory the runner-up from the most recent season in Boston!! OMG, look at my face I totally fan-girled ALL over him and his dish won Best in Show!! He told us that he is opening Departure Cherry Creek this Spring!! I cannot wait!
Sunday it was Girls vs Boys..... The boys went golfing to this amazing #1 course in Denver......
And us girls had High Tea at The Brown Palace .... it was a surprise I planned for Jordan and she loved it! You know me..... making others happy is selfish... because it makes me so happy!

We really had a wonderful time and look forward to them coming back again and they loved the new house too!!! And of course the animals LOVED getting extra attention for a week!
