This post will include (Spoilers)
You know it isn't very often that I go see a movie and feel guilty about it...... but with this insane uproar from Christians over Noah that is exactly how I felt. I want to poke some holes into this hoopla....

There is article after article on why Christians should or should not see this movie and I found one that hit the nail on the head for me from Fox News of all places, here is a portion of the story that might put this into perspective....

I recently saw "The Book of Mormon," the Broadway musical. It is outrageous, irreverent and flat-out hysterical. There is a reason it’s setting records all over the country. I didn’t know much about the Mormon faith, but I’ll tell you this: I have a better understanding and more interest in it after watching this play.

The thing Christians of all denominations could learn from the Mormons is this: the playbill for "The Book of Mormon" contained three full-page advertisements for the Mormon church! This play pokes fun at the Mormons for two solid hours, and yet the Mormon church chose to spend their money and advertise themselves.

I think it was the smartest response they could have.

You can read the full article HERE!

I am going to cover some of the concerns that I have read and heard about....

* Some articles have said there is NO mention of God in the movie at all and that is just not true....Noah is constantly talking to our "Creator" and getting visions from "Him". In fact the story of Creation is in this movie and it is told per the Bible and thru what our Creator made each day until on the last day he created Adam and Eve. And during this montage of our world being formed it is in no way pushing evolution...... people will see what they want to see.... I just saw 7 days of our world being formed in fast forward.

* Some people have said this movie is pushing "environmentalism" or "being Vegan" but if you read the Bible God did not allow Men to eat the animals on the Earth until AFTER the flood. So for the men that did so before hand that was evil and wicked. So of course Noah was saddened by the way animals were treated before the flood. And referring to the animals as the "innocences" seems completely accurate to me.

* The Watchers, I do believe that the Book of Enoch (read it HERE) was originally in the Bible and in the book of Enoch you will find the story of The Watchers. So for the Watchers to be in this movie is not crazy or off base. In this movie they are portrayed as "rock creatures" which was strange because I believe they were Men. In Enoch there were 200 Angels who wanted to come to Earth, they betrayed God and came to the Earth as The Watchers. In the Book of Enoch these were "Giant Men" who actually mated with Earth's women against God's wishes to create Nephilim. (Side note, there have been many archeological digs that have uncovered 8-12 foot men in the Earth, correlation?)
Now, in this case the director had the vision that The Watchers were rock creatures but that is what makes this a movie. But The Watcher are based on real historical Biblical texts via the Book of Enoch.

* This movie also portrayed Noah at a point as a drunk, only caring about his homemade wine and I was confused. But when I got home and did research this part of the movie is also TRUE!
Genesis 9:18-27 ESV
The sons of Noah who went forth from the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the people of the whole earth were dispersed. Noah began to be a man of the soil, and he planted a vineyard. He drank of the wine and became drunk and lay uncovered in his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers outside.

The problem I had? The problem I had was that once on the Ark Noah went a little crazy. Clearly this is when the story becomes JUST a movie. I thought it was a little silly that a man of God would become so........insane... and I think this was added for some "Drama" in the movie which wasn't needed. But I don't think the director was trying to bash Noah's legacy but instead he tried to think of what would happen if you went thru all of might knock a screw loose. It's just a movie people. So the last 45minutes were not my favorite.

I LOVED how the animals came to the Ark, to see it come to life on the screen was amazing and I think the movie did a great job at interpreting how this might have happened. This was entertaining and this could open a huge dialog of what parts of this story are in fact in the bible and what parts are not. I don't think in anyway should Christians be opposed to seeing this movie, I saw nothing "Anti-Christian or Anti-God" in this movie what-so-ever. I enjoyed this movie and for some it might be a renter but I am glad I went to see it in the theater!

3 Hours

So finally this movie is out on DVD and I was able to see why this movie is so polarizing. Polarizing how? Between people who like to be bored to death for 3 hours and those of us who don't.
I know, I know........ ya, this movie was intriguing for sure with getting to see this insane look into the lives of the 1% but it just kept going and going. One conversation between characters in this movie would would last 20 minutes and none of it was anything I cared about. Yes, I did laugh quite a bit during this one drug use scene but after the scene dragged on for 20 minutes it got old fast! Note to self when you are paralyzed by drugs don't try to drive your car. #wordstoliveby
I didn't hate this movie at all, but it just left me with a feeling that I wasted 3 hours of my evening and got nothing in return.  If you want to see the jest of the movie along with the best scenes then watch this preview a few times.......

Did you see it? Am I way off base?

Throwin' it Back

This week I have been purging things in the house to get ready for our move and I found a few picture CD's in Matt's office here at home....... they gave me a nice walk down memory lane!
All of these pictures are of the first year Matt and I were dating.... 8 years ago! I mean I can't believe it has been that long sometimes. So much life has happened since then.
Lets Dive In!

This picture was taken after church with my family in April 2006 before we went to celebrate my sisters Birthday at lunch! We had been dating a little over 3 months here! Matt dressed in his Sunday best to impress my family! :)
This is us at Easter at Matt's parents house and I am not sure if this is 2006 or 2007 when we were already engaged. Look at me in my Harold's dress looking like such a classy little girlfriend! hahaha!
This was Summer of 2006, Matt and I were on our way to see the Circus! Yes, really that is true! Look how good our skin looks? For reals!
This was May 2006 and this was the FIRST time Matt came to see me dance. This was at an AF2 game with the Yard Dawgz and I think he brought his Dad with him to the game! Welcome to the world of dance Matt which little did he know this was a preview of the next 2 years of your life!
And this was taken at Christmas 2006 which was our ONE Year Anniversary of being together! Time flies..... ya know?
Thanks for taking the walk down memory lane with me today friends!!! #tbt

This past Saturday afternoon I had a Divergent Date for ONE! I read the book last year and really enjoyed it so I was excited to see it come to life on the big screen! And to be honest I LOVED it! I really did, the movie was not cheesy at all and it truly brought the book to life on the screen.... it was great to see this Dystopian world in a place other than my mind. I thought the actors were good, Four was great and not just because he was so good looking! I also loved that the characters were portrayed older in the film (only by a handful of years). I never went on to read Book 2 or 3 after reading the first one but Saturday night I dove right into Book 2, I was completely ready to immerse myself back into this world!
This was a very enjoyable should go check it out even if you haven't read the books!!!

In boyhood, Louis Zamperini was an incorrigible delinquent. As a teenager, he channeled his defiance into running, discovering a prodigious talent that had carried him to the Berlin Olympics. But when World War II began, the athlete became an airman, embarking on a journey that led to a doomed flight on a May afternoon in 1943. When his Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean, against all odds, Zamperini survived, adrift on a foundering life raft. Ahead of Zamperini lay thousands of miles of open ocean, leaping sharks, thirst and starvation, enemy aircraft, and, beyond, a trial even greater. Driven to the limits of endurance, Zamperini would answer desperation with ingenuity; suffering with hope, resolve, and humor; brutality with rebellion. His fate, whether triumph or tragedy, would be suspended on the fraying wire of his will.
Last weekend I finished Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand and my only disappointment was that I did not read this sooner! I mentioned a few weeks back that seeing the Olympics preview of this movie with Angelina Jolie is what made me pick this book up and now? I cannot wait for the movie!
You know what I think? I think that if High School students were required to read this book along side learning about WWII it would make a much bigger impact....I know it would have with me. Reading about WWII in books is not the same as being immersed into it thru this book..... history came alive for me thru this book. The history books do not give us an accurate picture of what these guys actually went thru and Louis Zamperini's story is unbelievable. The strength of this man is literally something I cannot comprehend. During this entire book all I could think about is "What if this was me"? I would have broken, been broken and would not have made it. Reading this book gave me an incredible appreciation for POW's in a way that I just didn't understand before. Every night I couldn't wait to read this book and I was so sad when I finished.......... if you have not read this, you should. If you have a High Schooler you should encourage them to read this as well.
THIS is the face of a Hero. The face of Inspiration. A heart of Gold.
I hate that I have to wait until Christmas for this movie to come out BUT I know what I will be seeing over the Christmas break..... that means you too family!

While Mom was here we wanted to not only do all of our favorite things one last time here in Columbus but we also wanted to see a few new things, one being the Diana exhibit in Cincinnati!
This is the last stop on the Diana Tour before all the pieces retire at the Palace! Yes, we got to see THE Wedding gown she wore which was just unbelievable to see a piece of history like that up close. (I didn't sneak a picture) The exhibit was just a neat experience.......
This picture is my favorite, I mean it is hard to wrap your head around the fact that the crown is not made of rhinestones but seeing here positioned right behind was really neat.
The exhibit housed all the iconic outfits she wore throughout the years as well as the pictures of her wearing them. There was also a room devoted to Diana's childhood which was neat to see, I didn't realize she was a Ballerina and had a love for the Ballet.
They did a great job on the exhibit the only complaint we had was that is was too short, we would have liked to see more. The room devoted to her death was very emotional and surreal.
That night when we got home we rented the Diana movie with Naomi Watts, and ya it was real neat to watch this after being so close to many of the outfits portrayed in this movie. But.... as a whole this movie is a "Wait until HBO or Cable" type of movie!
Saturday morning Mom and I got up early and had a spa date which we have never done! We even had facials which was a first for us both and we agreed that we could get use to that! haha!
I scheduled us for Facials, Pedi/Mani, chair massage and makeup application........we had such a wonderful and relaxing time!
Mom LOVED it which was the point after all, it makes me happy knowing I planned something that we fell in love with.
Mom also enjoyed getting her makeup done............ after this we had lunch and ran some errands around Columbus!
Mom also got in some prime snugglin with all the boys, they were SO happy to see her!
We did do a little shopping and I DID get a new Spring/Summer purse with matching wallet! The wallet was from my Mom as a little early Birthday present! Thanks Mom! I fell in love with this bag because Navy/White is very spring/summer and the top handle/color blocking is huge right now! I am not going to use it until we get to need to break it out or get it dirty now!

For the Love of Food...

When Mom comes I completely abandon my WW lifestyle because we love to celebrate with food. We love to go to different places, make fun dishes at home and even take a class or two! The few pounds I gained over these past 5 days were worth every bite!!!!
Last Friday we went to Cincinnati for a little day trip and I found this ultra cool place called Senate. The Chef has won numerous awards and the Yelp reviews on this place sealed the deal! Mom and I had lobster rolls, duck fat fries and too-die-for beneigh's for dessert! So fun!
Sunday night Mom and I went back to one of the first places we ate when I moved to Columbus the famous Schmidt's Sausage Haus that has been featured on Man vs Food as well as Martha Stewart show! This restaurant has been open since 1886 in German Village here in Columbus! And oh ya, our German food was soo good!
On St. Patricks Day Mom and I took an Irish Cooking class at Sur La Table and it was so much fun! There were only 4 of us so we really got to be involved in all the steps of the meal! We had Apple and Parsnip Soup, Guinness glazed Salmon with mash potatoes and cabbage braised with bacon and for dessert we had Irish Whiskey Chocolate cake......Man, I am absolutely going to make this whole meal at home for Matt when we move!
Last night for Mom's last meal here we used my counter top pizza maker from Sur La Table and we both made our own mushroom truffle oil pizza for dinner! Mom completely fell in love with this neat gadget as much as I have! Pizza Night!!!!

Man, we ate much more but just writing this post is making me so hungry! Happy Tummies = Happy Hearts!

Hi Friends!

I am alive!!! Just been busy.......... last Thursday I had my home inspection that lasted forEVER and it went well enough I suppose. Then my Mom has been here since last Thursday evening! I just took her to the airport and I am off to clean the house! I will share with you all the fun my Mom and I had over the next few days!

Inspection Day....

Hey Guys! Today is Home Inspection Day, I don't think anyone would excited to have an inspector comb over your home for 3+ hours! EEK! Fingers crossed everything goes well!

Today is also #TBT aka Throw Back Thursday and I thought we would throw it back 2 years ago to the day of our Okc Home Inspection and after reading is already a WIN!!!!!
Let's go back to that dreaded day... is 7:30am and the inspection and buyers are set to arrive at 8:30..............And as embarrassing as this is I am a my toilet stops up............I do not know how to plunge? I just don't so when I tried it was overflowed on me and it is now 7:40am so I call my Mom screaming and she arrives at 8:00am and we put drano down and then I plunge again................

April 11

This past weekend Matt was able to come home for the first time in 5 weeks!!! I surprised him by bringing Oscar to the airport with me to pick him up. Oscar was a tad worked up if you can't tell....I think until Matt got into the car that he thought he was going to the doctor! Poor baby.
I wanted Matt to be at the house for the second showing we had set up this past Saturday. Just in case there was any question about the home that I could not answer.....and to help clean! haha! The weekend was good, but it was hard....when you don't see each other for 5 weeks, we each have gotten into new routines plus adding in all the stress in our lives we were at each others throats. It was sad that our weekend was squandered away but you know, it is what it is.

Here is the house before the showing all cleaned up, shining from top to bottom!!!
So....April 11 huh??? Well that is our closing date! Give me just a minute to be proud of myself........
As of today the house has been listed for 3 I sold our home in under 3 weeks! Also the couple that came Saturday did make an offer which we then countered. Matt had one number in mind and I had a slightly higher number in mind so I told him to trust me and THEY ACCEPTED! I think given the price of our home selling it for only 13k off the list price is a huge win! Our contracts are signed, the Title Company has been chosen and this Thursday is our home inspection! eek
Funny thing is yesterday I actually had 4 more calls on the house and it was nice telling people we are in contract (yes I took their name and number in case anything happens)!
I mean I did it! In 1 month I had the house re-carpeted, "staged", organized, listed, 3 showings and an offer accepted!
The couple did have a realtor.... to get more traffic I did advertise I would pay the buying realtor 3% commission which was a good but expensive plan! The realtor told me that the couple fell in love with the home after the way I "sold" it to them. I explained why I loved this home and showed them my favorite things and the realtor said she didn't know what they loved more me or the house. And guys, it isn't that often that I am actually proud of this was special to me. She said I should be a realtor in Denver........hmm.....maybe so! I know that selling 2 of my own homes doesn't make me a realtor but maybe I have a knack for it and my Dad might have hit the nail on the head when he said "I could sell a paper sack to anyone"

So today lets be happy, today I will beam with pride and tomorrow we will freak out about having 30 days to do SO much! M'Kay?

District Office Interior

Hi on top of moving, selling a home and planning our new lives Matt and I are creating a Farmers District Office from scratch in Denver! We officially have leased an office space that includes a front room, executive office, 2 more offices, break room, training room/bull pen and conference room in a really nice office building. The office building is next to a Whole Foods in a new trendy shopping area called Belmar, you can check it out HERE!
Currently the building manager is putting in our new wood floors, painting the walls and replacing carpet.... we hope it to be ready in 2 weeks.

Matt has been stressed about the Reception/Lobby room decor and this weekend I went hog wild! Matt's style for the office is Modern with Classic touches. We want something that stands out.
Yes, there will be a huge custom Farmers logo on the wall as well as Modern Farmers Insurance prints on one wall. We will also have a flat screen mounted on 1 wall across from the receptionist desk that will have our logo on as well.
But we needed personal touches...
So I created 2 boards of the pieces I have picked out, what do you think.......

District Office Board #1
District Office Pt. 1

District Office Board #2
District Office Pt. 2
