Dream Dress Up

On this Friday before the Oscars I thought it would be fun to play "Dress Up" Oscar Style!!! I think we all daydream of what it would be like to look like a Hollywood star and be that glam for just ONE day! So I pieced together my imaginary look for Oscars Big Night!!! (thanks to Pinterest)

Christian Dior Spring 2012 Gown.........
Gorg, just gorg!!! This is show stopping legendary glam but at the same time I would not have to worry about spanx under a skin-tight gown! hehehe... ya, I have thought this thru can you tell?
Cartier Art Deco Diamond Bracelet would adorn my wrist and if I was lucky I would get a diamond body guard to follow me around all night!
Then these stunning Cartier Diamond earrings would go perfectly with the dress, simple yet stunning.

I LOVE this look of old Hollywood hair......And with the diamond barrette holding back one side you wouldn't have to worry about your hair in your face all night. She has the best hair doesn't she?
I would want simple yet very flawless bombshell make-up and the wine lips would help make my face pop!
Not sure what all you could fit into this Bottega Venetta clutch but this would look really nice with the gown!
Lastly, everyone needs amazing shoes and with this pink satin hiding some color under the gown these would be perfect for the E! Shoe Camera!! These are Loubutin
So......what would you wear to the Oscars??? Maybe someone will show up in this gown, it would be a show stopper!!!!

The House Girl

Lina Sparrow is an ambitious young lawyer working on a historic class-action suit seeking reparations for the descendants of American slaves. Josephine is a seventeen-year-old house slave who tends to the mistress of a Virginia tobacco farm—an aspiring artist named Lu Anne Bell. Alternating between antebellum Virginia and modern-day New York, The House Girl is a searing tale of art, history, love, and secrets that intertwines the stories of two remarkable women

Last week sometime my Kindle advertised this book as a $1.99 special, it sounded intriguing so I gave it a go.........and I am SO glad I did! I loved how this book went back between "The House Girl" and then the present day attorney trying to piece together the true author of several works of art. This book was a very quick read and had me hooked from the beginning! I am so glad I gave this a whirl....you should too!!
Whats Next?
A few years back I remember seeing Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand on the best seller list for weeks but I never really knew what it was about. Then I heard that Angelina Jolie was directing the big screen version which kinda peaked my interest or more-so put the name of the book in my brain. But finally last week on the Today Show I saw this mini-feature about the true story, the movie and the book and I knew this would be my next book.....This is just powerful!

Have you read this?

Perfect Jean.....

Behold the perfect skinny jean.............
Guys......I just realized I have not told you about the BEST jeans EVER! For real, I have been wearing them since last November and I might have to go and buy like 3 more pairs JUST in case they stop selling them! Now....I do NOT do "Jeggings" really NO jeans that are leggings.....I need the real deal Jean thru and thru! These are a skinny jean that stretch like leggings but the material is thick jean material............which is very helpful at hiding flaws!
As you see they are pull on with a wide waist band instead of zipper and button and that is what makes them amazing! They are not a low rise at all and this wide band covers my "tummy pooch" in the most perfect way. They sit about an inch or so below my belly button! Also that means there is no weird button thing sticking out only a smooth waist that makes all tops look good!
As you can see they don't look cheap, they don't look thin and the color is just the perfect Blue Jean Wash!
Here they are all dolled up.........I have worn them with boots and flats, both work great with them!
Now where do you get these bad boys?????? TARGET!!!!!!! These are Levi's for Target, and yes I am for real.....they are only $27.99!!!!!
Go getcha some............. HERE

Meh.

Can I just tell you how glad I am that the Olympics are over? ALL my shows have been on "hiatus" which has forced me to watch a million movies in 2 weeks! I mean I am ok with that but I was most definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel.... HAHA! Well, without Matt on the weekends movies are the cheapest activity for ONE! So I thought I would share with you just a few of the movies I have seen lately On Demand and in the Theater!
Paranoia
Would you believe this movie I rented On Demand last night actually and this was the best of the bunch.?? I thought they rushed the ending which was a little jumbled but I enjoyed this movie...it kept my attention for sure. This movie is about Tech, Spying, The 1% and how incredibly good looking Liam Hemsworth is in the movie! This movie was a good renter! Have you seen it yet?
 Pompeii
I love a good disaster film, I guess I am a bit like a guy in that I love a big budget action movie! I wasn't "waiting" to see this movie when it came out but I saw this movie Friday as a matinee and I enjoyed it! This was like combining "The Day After Tomorrow" with "Gladiator" and it worked for me! I was drawn to this film because the lead Kit Harrington stars in Game of Thrones and he is so likable. This movie is probably a renter for most but I enjoyed it!
Vampire Academy
I have not read these books shockingly so I don't have that background to go off of but hey, Vampire Movie.....I'm in! This was a cute Teen Vampire film, was it the next Twilight? Of course not. It had all the perfect components: Good Looking Cast, Vampires, Rich Kids, Love, Blood and a witty leading lady! My recommendation.....This will be a great renter, an enjoyable mindless evening of movie watching! I am betting these books are good though!
Winter's Tale
So I have to say that lately my mind has been so full with my life lately that it has been harder for me to let go and love a movie ..... so that may have had something to do with this review.
When I saw this preview a few months ago I knew I had to see it, it made me swoon. Now did the movie make me swoon? No. This movie was literally chopped together the first hour filled with the love story of the past, a lot of build up AND then......present day. It was as if they changed gears too much and the last hour was filled with the lead guy (Colin) trying to save a dying girl. To me this was less love more.......I am not sure. I was really disappointed in this movie the actors were completely "under-used". Wait to watch this on DVD.
House of Cards
I have also spent these 2 weeks watching the entire first season of House of Cards with Kevin Spacey. I don't have Netflicks (although I need to now) so I bought this on DVD and gave it a go. This is a political series about basically how people will do anything to benefit themselves and I don't doubt things like this happen all the time. I enjoyed this series and I will absolutely watch Season 2 (which is out now). I did think this series had a slow build up, maybe not enough "bang" in each episode for it to truly hook me. But, the way the season ended....I absolutely need to know what is going to happen next!!! Have you watched this???
Thankfully my shows are back this week along with the premiere of the Americans! YAY!!!

WW Recap...

Hi guys!! It's been about 2 weeks since I last talked about my weight and I am still having a hard time logging my food. Why is it that I can't make myself do something so easy as track my food?? One day I am going to get back on track with using my WW app but luckily I still use everything I know about WW daily. My current weight is 145, I am down 1.8 pounds in the last 2 weeks to bring my total loss to 31 pounds! Sometimes I don't think about how proud I should be until I get the new Weight Watchers Magazine and I see that they featured someone who lost 31 pounds. I love that magazine and that was a great reminder for me to take a minute and celebrate how far I have come in a little over a year!

Last night I threw together a soup with things I had in my fridge and if I had known how yummy it would turn out I would have taken pictures along the way! So instead you get a slightly messy mid-meal picture! I have to share this recipe with you all and I don't have the points calculated out for WW but I used ingredients I know that follow the plan.
Creamy White Cheddar and Cauliflower Soup!
Serves about 4, 1 1/2 cup portions

Need!
1 head cauliflower rough chopped
1 carrot diced
1 celery stalk chopped
1 small yellow onion
1 teaspoon fresh Thyme, chopped
3 cups reduced sodium chicken stalk
1/2 cup Fat Free Half and Half
1/2 cup Aged White Cheddar
2 Teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
Salt and Pepper
1 pad of butter

How!
* Toss cauliflower and carrot in EVOO, sprinkle with salt, pepper and throw onto cookie sheet
* Roast veggies on 400 for 15 minutes (just enough to get a little depth of flavor)
* Sautee onion and celery in butter, add cauliflower and carrot after about 5minutes and continue to sauté for another 5 minutes
* Pour in your 3 cups stock, or enough to cover all veggies and then simmer for about 10 minutes or until all veggies are tender
* Use an immersion blender (or pour into blender) and blend until creamy
* Add Half & Half, Cheddar, Thyme, Salt and Pepper
* Once heated thru, serve!!!! I had mine with some little toast points.

Enjoy Friends!!!!

Kings of Leon

Last night I had a girls night out with my friend Kylee.....we went to see one of my favorite bands Kings of Leon!! Yup, this was actually Matt's Christmas present from me but who would of thought he would be living in Denver right now??
This is my second time to see KOL, the first time was years ago in Tulsa with my bestie Amanda and they are so amazing live! They sang all their hits as well as songs from their new album, it was so nice to know all the songs and sing my heart out!
The set/screen was just cool, that sounds stupid but everything fit perfectly with the songs and the band just plain cool! I just wish we were not surrounded by a ton of weirdos! Really, people watching was priceless last night, they have a very "eclectic" fan base!
Did you all know that KOL is from Oklahoma? And they happen to be HUGE Sooner fans! True story! Boomer Sooner!
Kylee and I had such a great time...it was also so amazing to not be stressed out all night about having to get up early the next day to go to work! So ya, that was a huge bonus to the night!

The carpet goes really well with our kitchen tile also.......So much more flow then white! DON"T even buy a home with white carpet....gag!
I was so lucky to have my friend Kylee come over to help me put the house back together the next day, she was a life saver!!! Literally.
While I have been organizing, cleaning and trying to get this house ready to go on the market the boys have loved having their Mom home with them all day!!! How cute are these two? I found them like this having a morning snuggle sesh the other day! #adorbs

Red Rising...

“Ender, Katniss, and now Darrow.”—Scott Sigler

Pierce Brown’s relentlessly entertaining debut channels the excitement of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card.

Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children.

But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet. Darrow—and Reds like him—are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.

Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity’s overlords struggle for power. He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society’s ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies . . . even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.
W-O-W!
I got this book after reading incredible reviews in Entertainment Weekly and People magazine. When I read the "over-view" it did sound weird to me, it didn't jump out at me. But goodness am I glad I gave this book a chance! This book is........
Game of Thrones + Hunger Games + The Giver + Divergent + Enders Game + Lord of the Flies = Red Rising!!!!!

This book is different, intriguing, brutal and it immersed me into this "far off" dystopian society and I was so sad when I finished the last page! And yes, I hugged the book! ha! I HATE that I will have to wait for book 2 to come out, yup.....meet your next trilogy series that WILL be turned into a movie! This book has no sappy love triangle and you won't miss that at all, this book is so vivid it played out like a movie in my mind as I read it. This book would also be a great read for guys or teen boys with all the battles in it as well as the book being told thru the male characters eyes.
I just can't say it enough, I just loved this book!!!! Book Club gals.....this is a must read!
