WW

Well friends, the day has come......the day that I know I NEED to make a change. I have never been on a diet before and after some research it seems that Weight Watchers would be a good fit for me. I am scared to talk about this on the blog because I am scared I will fail. You see I am almost 32 and I have never been on a diet, my whole life up until I turned 26 I danced 40+ hours a week. So I was lean(ish) and I wasn't sedentary like I am now. I mean look at me 5-6 years back............ I weighed 115, I would kill to look like this again......I danced in booty shorts and a half top in front of 18,000+ fans weekly and now you couldn't pay me enough to show my body!
 What happened? Life! I stopped dancing and being active, I started to love cooking even more and before you know it I am 50+ POUNDS heavier. Yup, I just admitted that for all to see. But your not blind you all could probably see it over the years in my pictures............Yes, that arm on hip is my signature pose and I think it makes my look slimmer in pictures but that is debatable!
You know it's funny somedays when I am looking especially cute (ya, I just said that) I think......hey, I'm not too bad....I have a fuller face and that makes me look younger than I am (True Story) and I tell myself "I just bought a ALL new wardrobe over the last year or two to fit me so why change?" But then I get on the scale and see 170, I see my gut hanging over my jeans and then I heard that at my brothers wedding someone (whom I don't enjoy anyway) was asking around if I was pregnant because I am fat. You know I am embarrassed to say I use to dance for the NBA and AFL because look at me, ya know? And PLEASE I am NOT asking or fishing for compliments.......I am just being transparent and honest.

I joined WW this week and I am taking the week to get acquainted with the site and I will start on Monday. I am not alone thankfully a wonderful friend named Jamie is doing it with me. She has the cutest blog and most adorable little family.... you can check her out by clicking HERE tell her I sent ya! Her story is similar to mine which is so nice to hear and we can relate to each other in so many ways. AND I just found out a new friend Melissa, whom I met here in Columbus and she also signed up this week!
Here is my plan.....(some of it)
1. Cut back on sweets and carbs
2. Try the hardest at Breakfast, Lunch and snacks and cook healthier recipes at night.
3. Cut back on my portions
4. Weigh in weekly and I am going to try to do a post each week where if you are loosing weight too you can comment and leave your weight loss! Hopefully we can all inspire one another
5. Be more active...come on Nicole, you can do it!

So friends.......have you done WW? Any tips for me? Anything you want to share??

I know you said you're not fishing for compliments, but girl, you are beautiful! The number on that scale doesn't define you. But, good for you on being so inspired to make a change! I, too, would like to lose about 20 pounds. I've been debating Weight Watchers, and you might have just inspired me to sign up! I'm looking forward to watching your progess..you'll do great!

I actually just did a post today on eating healthy. I shared a great blog that you might like..check it out. It has a ton of recipes that include the Weight Watchers points for each!!

Hey Nicole! I am a follower but rarely comment and I dont have a blog but I though I would "weigh" in on your post today! First of all, I am a huge fan/lover/believer in everything WW and it truly works! I know this for a fact because in the past year or so I have lost 60 pounds and reached my goal weight and have become a Lifetime member and a Leader at my local meetings. It is absolutly NOT a diet (bad word!!!) but instead its a lifestyle change and a way to look at food in a different light. Its definately not easy, but it is so very do-able and almost fun. Since you love cooking already, you will find that making simple substituions and portions will make a huge difference. Id love to be a source, if you would like! If you can, I highly suggest going to a meeting weekly and weighing there and listening to the meeting. You will get so much out of it and you might even make some new friends. I like the meetings for the accountability, to myself and others. Anyway, if you ever want to chat, feel free to email me! - Beren :)

I think it's great you are making this change and getting more active! It's inspiring!! One of my resolutions was to get to the gym more and cool healthier too...it makes all the difference with how you feel I think. It's awesome you are so honest on this blog and I can't wait to follow you on this new journey!!

I'm a huge fan of WW. I joined a couple of years ago and in fact, only recently just left (following the plan on my own). I did everything online and lost 30 pounds. I would have done better if I worked out, but I just flat out did not have the time. It truly works if you follow the plan and it's super easy to follow. Check out skinnytaste.com. That's where I got a lot of my recipes. Good luck!!

good for you! i have done ww before (and clearly need to do it again), and was very successful.. and was able to keep the weight off until babies happened. all that to say, you can do it! will you be posting your healthy recipes you make (please). :)

Follower for a while, but never comment. My husband and I use my fitness pal. I never realized how many calories I was getting by snacking! I also bought the biggest loser cookbook. Actually pretty tasty! I am making PW's vodka pasta tonight with skim milk instead of heavy cream. I will let you know how it turns out. Good Luck!

I think you are brave for sharing this side of your life. It's painful...but, maybe it will help keep you accountable knowing that people are checking on your progress. WW is great. I've had several friends who have experienced success with their program. I would make one suggestion though...probably something you've already thought about since you used to dance. But, we all know how important exercise is. Can you add a few classes in to your weekly schedule? I swear, it helps the weight drop off faster. I used Crossfit to help me lose my baby weight. Other than that, I feel like your approach is going to work for you. Keep your head up. You are beautiful at any weight. But, I am proud of your dedication to making changes and getting healthier. Go you!!!!

You should totally try Zumba! Those people are moving in there & you'd love it! You can burn up to 700 calories in 1 hour while doing what you love! Maybe you could even be an instructor one day :) you're amazing and

I am so EXCITED for you. After I moved to FL I was depressed because I didnt know anyone, etc and i packed on the pounds. One day I got fed up, woke up and decided I was joining WW which was 08/10 I got my lifetime membership in 05/12. I have a pinterest board and pin recipes I try, most of them if they are unhealthy I substitute healthier recipes! If you ever need to talk, need recipes, encouragement, anything... Natalie has my contact info. my best advice, pay the extra for e-tools, use the recipe builder on their and most of all the iphone ap, makes it so easy!

You go girl! While you are gorgeous just the way you are, I totally understand that, as women, it's important to feel good about yourself also! I did WW last year and I loved it because I felt like I could still go out and do things without being too restrictive. But then I kind of fell off the wagon and dropped my membership, but I've been playing with the idea of joining again. Good luck!

Ditto on the ZUMBA, find a local class and GO! It's about 45 minutes of dancing around a room with strangers that become friends. Just remember to laugh at yourself! And remember that I fell down in a Zumba class once, my legs got tangled. :) And one more thing I'd add to your list, WATER. It's amazing how much drinking loads of water can help you to feel better all around.

Nicole - I am WAY behind on my reader, so I am just getting to this. I just wanted to let you know that I am super duper in awe of how you just came out and said all of this. I, too, used to have a dancer's body and lately I've seen it slipping further and further away. I never had to diet before and I really don't know how... I've started working out more, but there's nothing that takes the place of dance. You know? Just wanted to let you know that you are certainly not alone and I feel your pain! haha - why can't we go back to college and those college bodies we had. And to think, I used to think I was "fat" - I remember crying about the crop tops I had to wear for rush dances... if only I was that "fat" again!
