Lakers got Lucky

Yesterday I went to see the Thunder take on the Lakers and this time I went with my bestie Melissa in her companies seats! My family was in their regular seats and as soon as we walked into the Ford Center we ran into my sister!
Funny thing we didn't plan this AT ALL but we both showed up to the game with the same Thunder shirt! Great minds think alike!
The crowd was loud and crazy......what a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
The Lakers are very dramatic and big babies as you watch them play if you ask me! The game was neck and neck and we lost in the final 20 seconds! Heartbreaking!
I LOVE the game is like the movies for me, I wont go if I miss it!
Rumble is the best mascot! He puts on a show and this time he repelled from the roof onto the court to start the game!

Can you see him??? Rumble was flung out of a human sling shot to fly across the air and make the basket! So fun!

I'm Alive

Hey Guys! I am ALIVE......long story computer died,  I bought a Mac and I am learning how to use it! I will try to get in a few updated posts today!!!!

Cheers to 50 more.....

What am I thankful for today? That last night I got to help my mother in law Micki celebrate her 50th Birthday! We had Mexican last night (I gobbled up spinach enchiladas)......nothing better than some chips and salsa to say Happy Birthday! Here is Jeff & Micki my in laws!
Matt was able to meet us for dinner at 6:30 but then had to go back to work to come home at his normal time which is after 9:30! So actually eating a meal together mid-week was a nice surprise!
This is Micki and "the kids" including Michael (my brother in law to be) who deploys for 13 months officially tomorrow. (far right) The kiddos....Matt, Me, Jennifer, Colby, Michael and Landon
What did I get her? Well last week when I took the salt class I told you all I bought something but didn't want to say......I got both Micki and myself Red Hawaiian Sea Salt and Blood Orange Olive Oil that went so amazing on the chocolate ice cream! I am sure she thought I was nuts....put the Olive Oil where? I promise people it's good! Chocolate ice cream, drizzled with orange olive oil, sprinkled with red salt and topped with vanilla bean whip cream! Divine!

A Discovery of Witches

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library. Diana has stumbled upon a coveted treasure lost for centuries-and she is the only creature who can break its spell.
I counted down the days until this book came out, I had read reviews for this book in People, Entertainment Weekly, Glamour, O and everyone gave it 4 to 5 stars! So it is clear to say I had high expectations! This is a big 600 page book which took me a week but I could not put it down! I LOVE it like I always say when a author immerses you into another version of the world we live in, this one filled with Witches, Vampires and Daemons (yes, that is how she spells them). This is one part Dan Brown mixed with one part Twilight for grown ups! This will be a trilogy with book 2 out next year......I am not sure how I can wait that long, I was left hanging. I will say that the last 1/4 of the book she seemed to really rush 1 major revelation after another that kinda left my head spinning. I wish she would of spent another 100 pages clearing things up, I mean after 600 pages what is 700?
Over all I recommend this book and I think it will make a perfect movie! Let me know if you read it!

Weekend Wrap-Up

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, I did!!! Friday night was our monthly book club night and it was extra special because we met at the Warren Theater to eat dinner in the restaurant upstairs. We did our regular book club chit chat and then we went to see I am Number Four a book we have all read! Regardless how good or bad the book to movie transition is...I love seeing a book I have read come alive on screen! Here is the group, I love love these girls and I am so thankful for book club it is hands down my favorite thing I do every month!
We saw a 10:15 movie and how funny... I do not remember the last time I saw a late movie! And getting home at 12:30 was crazy to me, yes I am so cool! SO even though I was fighting back the yawns I loved the movie! For starters everyone in this movie is good looking and that doesn't hurt! HA, and I will say it is very Sci-Fi so I am not sure if you will love the movie as much if you haven't read the book! But I thought it was enjoyable!
THEN, Matt and I saw Unknown on Saturday.....2 movies in 1 weekend? Shocker! I LOVE Liam Neeson!! He is so handsome and combined with his voice makes him a nice package! This movie is intense and does have a twist at the end that you will not see coming! I highly recommend this movie.
I also spent Sunday putting together my coupon stuff.......this is a bag I won at the class...Matt went to race dirt bikes yesterday ALL day so I had a day to myself. Well, one that included cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping and coupons!
Here is my new coupon box and I used my coupons for the first time yesterday at Homeland and for a first timer I was thrilled that I saved $22.45!! Hey, you have to start somewhere!! And if you want to visit her site and have not already it is !! Stay tuned maybe next week I can save $30? Who knows!

Let's get physical...

Let's take a nice walk down memory lane.......So I have been blasting the Glee volume 4 cd in my car for a week now and my favorite song on the CD is the Olivia Newton John/Sue Sylvester "Lets get physical"!!! I just LOVE it!
You see this song is really my first memory of a song, when I was little (3-4ish) my mom would dress me up just like Olivia in leggings, leg warmers you name it and we would "work out" in the living room to Olivia's Music! We even had little dumb bells and workout mats!
Below is a picture of me around the age of 3 in dance class rocking leg warmers!
My mom is a young mom so at this time she was only 24 and the two of us would work out and dance around the living room every morning!! (mom and dad below) So I guess you could say I grew up on Olivia, fun thing is about 7 years ago my mom and I got to see Olivia Newton John in concert!!
Below is the Glee version (no clue why it is so small) so as you watch this video go on and imagine a 4 year old me dancing in leg warmers to this song! Now that this song will be in your head all day today, you can thank me later!

6 Confessions...

I have a fun game for you on this Finally it's Friday, I stole this idea from another blog I follow and you should do it will be fun! No judgement (hold your hand ove your heart and promise)...........

1. I HATE it when couples go "ga-ga" over each other via Facebook, I do! I hate seeing 1 spouse say something like this on the others page "I love you so much, and I am so thankful God sent you to me...I could not be more blessed, you are so wonderful I am so lucky" etc get the point. I know I know, many of you think this is sweet but it makes me want to barf

2. I just pounded a Sara Lee Butter coffee cake for breakfast, I ate half of it all by myself. In my defense it is small I swear.

3. Even though my animals are my entire life and I treat them like God's.....I am always behind on their shots and constantly forget to give them heart worm medicine. I constantly feel guilty for being a "bad mom"

4. I have so much cellulite you would want to cry if you were me. And I do from time to time. I tend to have mini "pity parties" while standing in front of a mirror pointing it all out to myself, so pathetic.

5. I am a "picker"....every single night I pick at my face. Even if there is nothing there I pick anyways, I hate that I do this but I can't stop. I am ruining my pores I am sure.

6. I am terrible about friends Birthdays.......I forget, I am unsure on should I get them a gift? I need to be better at sending cards and making that day more special for my friends. I am a work in progress!

Ok, there you have promised not to judge!! Now, it is your turn!

Let me start off this post by saying I am sorry, I now realize that alot of the "cool/different" things I do such as a coupon class and this cooking class are things that you my friends and followers would like to do to! SO I am going to try from here on out by announcing things as I find them and not only talking about them AFTER the fact! Last night I did a cooking class/5 course dinner with my mom at the International pantry in Norman. These classes sell out in about 5minutes after they are posted and always have a wait list (they only allow 12 per class) so for starters friends....go to the International Pantry website and sign up to be on the mailing list and you can hear about future classes if this is something you like. They are usually $50 a person! You can visit their site thru a link at the end of my post.............
Mom & Me
The class last night was "Salt" uh hello....yumm! And it was taught by the executive Chef at Cheevers in OKC Mark. And remember a while back I won a brunch contest for Cheevers by giving him (the chef) the idea of Maple Bacon Bread pudding? Well, he remembered me and actually told me he used that as a dessert recipe in the last class he taught! WOW!!!!!!!!!
Ok, ignore the paper goods that is what they use to be easy and efficient............
Course One; Kiwi-Lime Consume in a watermelon shooter finished with Sel gris (divine and makes me excited for Spring)
Course Two; Zucchini and Honeydew Salad salt cooked with Hand shaved manchego and ripe strawberries!
LOVED this so much! And yes, I will be making this again!
Course Three; Black Truffle Scented Seared Filet Brochette with creme fraiche!
This was more than good, this picture does not do it justice! OMG! And I laid out the big bucks and went home with some of my very own black truffle salt! *swoon*
Course Four; Fleur de Sel Crisped Atlantic Striped Bass, Hasselback potatoes studded with garlic and black sea salt topped with local honey roasted corn relish!
This was so light and filling at the same time! I helped mom finish hers (shocker)
Course Five; Red Hawaiian Sea Salt Sunday laced with Blood Orange olive oil and vanilla bean whip cream!
Ok, I know this sounds so weird......olive oil on ice cream? This was the best thing I have ever tasted! The oil was so delectable I could of eaten it with a spoon and the salt gave it the best finish!
Of course I love Cheevers but now after taking such a wonderful class I am an even bigger fan!!! And yes, I did buy some stuff but it is a secret because I got the same stuff for someone who reads my blog that has a Birthday next week! (wink wink)
The Chef was so nice, down to earth and gifted! Just writing this post I am salivating all over my keyboard!
SUCH a fun night! And my mom and I are both signed up for Italian Cooking in May by another local chef! Can not wait! To visit the International Pantry site click HERE!
And for Cheevers click HERE!

American Soldier

Hi Blogger Friends! Yesterday was a special day and today is Thankful Thursday!! I went to my "future brother-in-laws" deployment ceremony yesterday as him along with 3,200 Oklahomans will be deployed for the next year. As I was at this event my mom and I could not help but think about my brother Curtis who is set to deploy this fall..............
Here is Michael and my sis-in-law Colby, I can only imagine how hard this next year will be for the both of them!
I want to start by having you all watch this video they played at yesterdays ceremony this is called American Soldier by Toby Keith a fellow Oklahoman! And whether someone you know and love is Military you can not help but be emotional when watching this video. There was not dry eye in the house yesterday........

Yesterdays ceremony was to honor the 3,200 Oklahomans and their families.....there were so many people that we filled the Ford Center (our big arena) but also housed 2,000-3,000 more people in the arena across the street and had a live feed via projector. This was for the 45th Infantry Brigade....
It was amazing to see all the Soldiers sitting there, I can only imagine what these soldiers were feeling.
I hope that I will be able to fly out to Camp Pendleton when my brother has his ceremony this fall.
Our new Oklahoma governor was one of the speakers as this ceremony was broadcast live on all OK news stations.
To all Military I appreciate what you do and to Oklahoma military families I have volunteered with a wonderful Oklahoma Non-Profit called the Hugs Project....if you, a loved one or someone you know is or being deployed you can contact this organization and they will add your solider to the care package list!!!  You visit their site by clicking HERE! Here are ways you can help via Hugs...
1. Volunteer to help put together Care packages
2. Donate items such as dark colored socks, toiletries, books, food
3. Donate money to help off set the $40,000 a year they spend on postage
4. Add a coment if you have any questions!
